"Unboxing Special" (also known as "Unboxing" or "Origins") is a two-part series premiere special event in Season 1 of Power Players. It first premiered on August 30, 2019, on the official Cartoon Network website. The special revolves around Axel Mulligan where he first became Action Axel, and meeting the Power Players team.

Synopsis

Axel ventures into his uncle's strictly off-limits basement lab in hopes of fixing a broken toy and ends up unleashing living ones instead: the renegade Madcap and a whole team of superpowered toys dedicated to stopping him!

Trivia

• Originally, the special was going to first premiered in Canada on Teletoon for English viewers on August 31, 2019. However, they were released a day early on the official Cartoon Network website in the US.
  • Later that day, Cartoon Network uploaded the full special on their official YouTube channel in the US. Though, the entire special was later re-uploaded on February 26, 2020.
• The "Backstory" promotional video serves as a recap for the special.
• In the French version, the special is called "Origines".
• The special title refers to when Axel opens the Toy Box, freeing Madcap and the Power Players inside.
