Scene: Toy Store driveway. Axel is fantasizing himself driving a car and winning the derby race.
Axel: Woohoo! Ha, ha, ha! Come on! Gotcha!
Galileo: It's been said that when a great driver takes the lead, they never lose it! (The fantasy sequence ends and the scene shows Axel driving his derby car in the driveway as he's doing his solo training for the soapbox derby. He's making engine noises as he “crosses the finish line”) And Axel crosses the finish line! First place!
Sarge Charge: Nice, driving kid! Record time.
Axel: Yeah!
(Galileo and Sarge both chuckle. Axel turns around and salutes Sarge. But because he doesn't look where he's driving, Axel accidentally causes one of his front tires to hit a trash can)
Galileo: Ooh!
(Axel is trying to control his car)
Axel: Aaah! Aaah!
Bobbie Blobby: Pit stop!
Axel: Yeah, sure, that way I can… (One of his front tires falls off) Huh? Oh, man!
(Bobbie runs to where the tire had fallen)
Bobbie Blobby: It's bad, but we're better. Crew!
(Bearbarian runs to the car with an air pump, while Masko arrives with a spare tire)
Bearbarian: On it!
Masko: I bring the new wheel! (Bearbarian lifts the car up with Axel still in it, and Masko places the new tire for the car) There! Good as the new! (Bearbarian puts down the car, causing the new tire to become flat. Masko grabs a towel to clean the new tire) I make the sparkle!
(Bearbarian starts pumping air to the new tire)
Axel: Solo training complete. Now, co-pilot?
Bobbie Blobby: Does Zoe know she's your co-pilot for the race?
(Bearbarian finishes pumping the new tire, but he has pumped too much air that when he pulls the air pump out of the tire, the tire flies to Masko and pushes him away)
Masko: Aaah!
Axel: Not yet. Can't wait to see the look in her face when I tell her the good news, though!
(A little while later, Axel had told Zoe about the co-pilot position)
Zoe: Wait. What?
Axel: You plus me equals victory!
(Axel chuckles and points at his toys. Zoe looks to see the toys are all chuckling and waving at her)
Bobbie Blobby: Hey!
Zoe: Wow, uh… I'm flattered? But I already promised I'd drive with Cleo.
Masko: What?
Bobbie Blobby: Told ya.
Axel: What? (The toys all hide inside the car) But you're always my co-pilot. And Cleo? You two are enemies!
Zoe: Enemies? I'd say we're more just competitive. That's why teaming up with her makes sense! Speaking of which, I'd better go practice. Thanks, though. And I promise we'll team up next time! (She accidentally bumps into someone as she leaves the house) Bye!
Axel: But… (He walks back to the driveway) Maybe I can just race solo, like at the drag strip.
Sarge Charge: No-go, kid. (jump on top of the car) Strictly against regulations for this derby.
Galileo: Axel! Why don't you ask Luka to be your co-pilot?
Bobbie Blobby: Yeah!
Axel: Luka? Are you kidding? First of all, he's way too young.
Bearbarian: He is but one year younger than you.
Axel: And he doesn't know you guys exist! How's my pit crew supposed to work and hide from my co-pilot?
Bobbie Blobby: Leave that…
(Bobbie and Sarge jump down from the car)
Sarge Charge: …to us.
Scene: Park. The contestants are getting ready for the race.
Announcer: Drivers, please make your way to the starting line.
Cleo: Hey!
(Cleo and Zoe high-five)
Zoe: Partners! Ha, ha!
(Axel watches the girls getting into their car. He sighs)
Luka: Okay. I know I wasn't your first pick.
Axel: But I'm glad to have you onboard, partner.
(Axel pushes their car to the starting line)
Luka: Partner? Cool! I'm your partner! If you ask me, we're gonna win this thing easy, partner! Partner! Partner!
Axel: All right, just take it down a notch, partner.
(Axel and Luka both put on their helmets and get onto their car)
Uncle Andrew: Axel! Good luck!
Axel: Thanks, Uncle Andrew! (sees a sinister-looking derby car driving to the starting line) Huh?
Girl: Oh! (Her ice-cream scoops drop to the ground) Huh?
(The contestants are all surprised by the mysterious derby car)
Axel: Whose soapbox derby car is that?
Announcer: Racers must complete two laps of the track. May the best team win!
(Nearby, the Power Players are all hiding on top of a tree)
Galileo: You call that an announcer? Where's the drama?
Announcer: In three, two, one… (blows an air-horn) Go!
(The Power Players jump from tree-to-tree as they watch Axel driving his derby car in the track)
Bearbarian: Go, Axel! Show no mercy!
(Bobbie fires out clay from her mecha-suit to silence Bearbarian)
Bobbie Blobby: Are you trying to get us noticed, Bearbarian? Keep it down, fuzz-brain!
(Sarge fires his grappling hook to another tree and he ziplines himself to it. He looks through his binoculars to get a closer look of the race)
Cleo: Yeah!
Axel: Yeah, Luka! Pedal faster!
Cleo: Not so fast, boys!
(Cleo drives to the left and blocks Axel and Luka's way, causing Axel to accidentally get his car off the track and crashes into a bush. Luka screams in fear.)
Axel: Hey! What's your deal?
Cleo: Oops! My bad!
Sarge Charge: Not cool!
Bobbie Blobby: Cheater!
Bearbarian: Grrr.
(The boys get their car back onto the track, causing the Power Players to all chuckle and cheer)
Axel: Pedal, Luka! We can still win this!
Zoe: Woohoo!
Axel: Woo!
Cleo: I wonder where we're gonna display our trophy, Zoe?
(The boys drive past the girls)
Axel: At my house! But you can come over to look at it any time!
(The mysterious derby car drives past the girls)
Zoe and Cleo: Huh?
(The mysterious derby car knocks the tailgate of the boys' car)
Axel: Huh? It's that car again! Where did they come from?
Luka: Back off, cheaters!
(The side-door of the car opens to reveal Dynamo and Porcupunk)
Axel: What? (sees the two villain toys) Luka! (pulls Luka's head down to prevent him from seeing the villains) Duck! We need less wind resistance!
Luka: I can't see anything down here!
Axel: Perfect! Just keep pedaling!
Porcupunk: Watch this, Dynamo!
(Porcupunk fires out his quills to the boys)
Axel: Oh, no! (He tries to dodge the quills) Aaah!
(Nearby, the Power Players all see the commotion)
Sarge Charge: Porcupunk and Dynamo are on our car! He needs his pit crew. Stat!
(Below, it is Dynamo's turn to sabotage Axel)
Dynamo: My turn!
(Dynamo fires out a blast and it hits one of Axel's car wheels)
Axel and Luka: Whoa!
(Somewhere in the park, Madcap is revealed to have control his derby car with a remote-controller)
Madcap: (laughs evilly) Cheating is so much fun! Almost as fun as taking the Power Bandz will be! (laughs evilly again)
(Madcap makes his derby car bump into the rear end of the boys' car and knock them aside from the tracks)
Axel and Luka: Aaah!
(The boys both nearly collide to a tree, but Bobbie Blobby managed to save them just in time by firing out clay at the front of the car as a cushion and Masko grabbing the back of the car)
Luka: Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Awesome! You're a really good driver, Axel!
Axel: Thanks?
(Axel gets out of his car)
Luka: Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo! (chuckles)
(Axel bends down and shushes to his toys)
Sarge Charge: Whaddaya say we send that renegade car back to driver's ed?
Bobbie Blobby: Yeah!
Axel: What? (turns around to see the car nearby) They caught up!
Sarge Charge: You focus on the race. Let us handle the gatecrashers!
(The Power Players all walk away)
Luka: What'd you say?
Axel: Nothing!
(Axel gets back into his car. Just then, Madcap's derby car is charging to them)
Sarge Charge: Push!
(The Power Players push Axel's car back to the tracks, before Madcap's car can manage to charge at them. Madcap's car ended up crashing into the tree. Luka chuckles)
Luka: Those kids need driving lessons!
(Nearby, Madcap tries to maneuver the car back onto the tracks)
Madcap: Reverse! Reverse!
(Madcap gets his car back onto the tracks and it drives to Axel's car. Nearby, the Power Players all get onto the roof of Madcap's car to take care of Porcupunk and Dynamo)
Bearbarian: I smell evil upon the winds. Vanquish it!
Bobbie Blobby: Something stinks all right!
(Bobbie pulls Dynamo and Porcupunk out of the car)
Bearbarian: Dynamo! Porcupunk! Why don't you pick on somebody twice your size? Grr!
Porcupunk: Oye!
(Using his World Breaker, Bearbarian knocks Porcupunk off the car and the villain crashes into a tree)
Bearbarian: Who's next?
Dynamo: This race belongs to Dynamo. Huh?
Masko: No, it belong to the winner! (He wraps his arms around Dynamo to prevent him from blasting anyone) Have a nice trip! See you in the wintertime! And you go for the spin.
(Masko spins Dynamo around and tosses him out of the car)
Dynamo: Stop!
Bearbarian: Good one.
Masko: Thanks.
(The car is actually still “driving” which causes the Power Players to almost fall off)
Masko, Sarge Charge, and Galileo: Whoa! Whoa!
Bobbie Blobby: Aaah! (Bearbarian catches his friends) How's this thing still going without a driver?
Galileo: Perhaps someone's operating it remotely! Someone evil?
(Nearby, Madcap is starting to get bored)
Madcap: This race is boring me! Time for… the roller coaster!
(Madcap presses a few buttons on his remote control and causes his car to drive uncontrollably off the track)
Galileo: Aaah!
(Madcap's car knocks the Power Players off the roof. It then knocks Axel's car which causes the car to hit Zoe's car)
Zoe: Hey!
(The boys' car bumps into a rock, causing it to get launch up into the air)
Axel: Aaah!
Luka: Mommy!
Axel: Oh, no!
(Zoe and Cleo both stop their car. Zoe gasps when the boys crash their car sideways on the grass. She gets out of the car)
Zoe: Axel! Luka! Are you okay?
Axel: (groans) Never better.
Luka: I could use a cookie.
Zoe: Let me help.
(Zoe helps Axel get back onto his feet)
Cleo: Zoe! Come on! Leave 'em or we're gonna lose our lead!
Zoe: I can't leave them, Cleo. I've gotta help my friends.
Cleo: Your choice. Later!
(Cleo drives away. Luka and Axel both lift their car back up)
Zoe: What? Cleo! We're supposed to be a team!
(The kids watch as Cleo selfishly drives away. Luka gets back into his car)
Axel: Zoe, I… (pretends to scrap his knee) I scraped my knee! Yeah, so… why don't you ride with Luka? He's a good teammate, really good. And you both deserve a chance to win… with each other.
Zoe: But the race! You… (Axel quietly chuckles and winks at her, making her understand the message) Oh! Your knee! Yes. Go take care of that and…
Axel: And you two go win it.
(Zoe gets into Axel's car)
Luka: For Axel! Ha, ha, ha, ha! Whee!
(Zoe and Luka both drive away)
Action Axel: Mystery car, you're on your last lap! (chuckles at his joke)
(Madcap arrives, who's standing on the roof of his derby car)
Madcap: Thanks for the demonstration, but I already know how these Power Bandz work! Dynamo! Porcupunk! (Dynamo and Porcupunk both get onto the roof of the car) Hand 'em over, or we take them… (Dynamo and Porcupunk jump down from the car) the hard way!
(Bobbie fires out clay to Dynamo and Porcupunk. The other Power Players have arrived)
Bearbarian: Hard way is my favorite way! Grr!
(The toys all start fighting on the field)
Action Axel: Go, drone!
(Action Axel activates his Power Drone. The Drone flies to where Madcap is and gets him distracted)
Madcap: Hey! That's cheating! I'm the only one who's supposed to cheat! (sees that his car is about to collide into a tree) Oh, no!
(Madcap screams in fear when his car comes to a halt, which launches off the roof and he crashes into the tree)
Dynamo: (to Porcupunk) Run away?
Porcupunk: Run away!
(Dynamo and Porcupunk both cowardly run away in defeat)
Bearbarian: Get 'em!
(The Power Players chase after the two coward henchmen, but they lose them when Dynamo and Porcupunk run into a shrub)
Action Axel: Talk about an awesome pit crew!
Bobbie Blobby: Just call us champs.
(The toys all hear cheering nearby)
Action Axel: It's over! Let's go see who won!
(Action Axel detransforms himself and carries his teammates inside his backpack. Axel runs to where the finish line and sees Luka and Zoe both holding the trophy)
Axel: You did it? You crossed the finish line first?
Zoe: Well, not exactly.
Luka: Cleo finished first, but since she didn't have a partner and this is a team race, she got disqualified!
(Cleo angrily kicks her car)
Zoe and Luka: Yay teamwork!
Luka: Wanna team up again next year, Zoe?
Zoe: I dunno. Think they let us race as a trio?
(Zoe hands Axel the trophy. Axel chuckles)
Axel: Only if I can sit up front! Ha, ha, ha, ha!
Scene: Fantasy sequence. Axel, Zoe, and Luka are admiring their trophy.
Galileo: It is said that when a great driver takes the lead, they never lose it! But only as long as they have a great team. Wink.
