Axel's grandfather was a character from the old, unused concept of Power Players. He existed in several concept arts, depicting an early version of "Unboxing Special". However, the concept was discarded, and so, Axel's grandfather never appeared outside of concept art, but he was replaced by Uncle Andrew for the final product.
As seen in concept arts, he was a retired toy inventor who worked at the Toy Store.[1]

As seen in concept arts, Axel's grandfather was a chubby man with white hair and a bushy white beard.
Physical appearance[]
He wore round eyeglasses, a plaid pattern shirt, and suspenders that's holding up his pants.
Abilities[]
Axel's grandfather was a toy inventor and he could also experiment with creating "smart-toys", a small army of toys that could come to life.

Axel Applerod[]
Unlike Uncle Andrew in the final product, Axel was always warned by his grandfather to never open the Toy Box, the secret lab where he's experimenting with creating the smart-toys. But after his grandfather retired from his career at the Toy Store, Axel's curiosity got the better of him and he broke the lab's seal, releasing a small army of living smart-toys into the world, and giving Axel the power to transform himself into a living action figure.[1]

- It's unknown if Axel's grandfather was from his mother's or father's side.
- While Axel's grandfather and Uncle Andrew are similar to each other in terms of owning the Toy Store, there're several differences between the two.
- According to the early concept for the series, Axel's grandfather always warned Axel to never open the Toy Box. But in the final product, Uncle Andrew never warns him about opening the Toy Box since Axel recently moves in with him.
- Unlike Uncle Andrew, Axel's grandfather is said to retire from working at the Toy Store.
- Axel's grandfather is said to be a toy inventor while Uncle Andrew is both a toy inventor and a toy repairman.
- It's unknown if a different version of Axel's grandfather exists in the final version of the series.
